1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
Mix the sugar, cocoa, water, and vanilla together in a saucepan. Cook,
stirring constantly, just to boilng. Reduce the temperature to low and
simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Mix together sugar and oil. Beat egg and add to milk. Stir together the flour and baking powder. Add the combined milk and egg alternatively with flour and baking powder to the sugar and oil. Add the vanilla. Spoon this layer into the pie shell.
Pour the chocolate layer into the pie shell over first layer. Don't mix the layers together. They will switch positions during baking.
Bake in 350° F. oven for about 45 minutes, or until toothpick comes out
clean. Cool completely before serving.
